Hi all,

I currently have a solo guinea pig (we lost his brother 2 months ago) and getting another guinea pig for him sadly is not a possibility for him. Luckily he is very bonded to me, but as college comes closer I do want to know if bringing him to college is alright and what I need to do. The vet said he would be good to go, but does anyone know if there are restrictions on a guinea pig? I understand attention is very important, but I don’t foresee him not getting hours of cuddles each night like he does now (even with my busy schedule). I just want to know people’s thoughts and ideas. Thanks!

Hi.do you mean you will be living in college accommodation?you would need to get permission from the halls of residence manager.I'm not sure it would be appropriate to take a guinea pig to lectures !no work would be achieved, only cooing over the cavy!

You'll need to check the policy with your college if you're going to be in residence, or your landlord if you are going to be off-campus.

Hello!
I have my solo guiena pig Pam at college with me now. I love her so much and try to give her as much attention as I can throughout the day. As much as I love her, I don’t know if I would recommend bringing yours to college. I feel like I barely have enough time to care for her and it makes me so sad leaving her for class. It is a lot more work in college. Although at my specific college you can register your guinea pig as an emotional support pet which allows you to have them in the dorm. Best of luck with your decision!
