This might seem like a silly question, but can guinea's catch a cold? My OH is full of it at the mo, and like me, loves fussing George and Alfie. Should he keep his distance for a while or should they be ok?

?/

i have read before that guinae pigs cannot catch human colds. I have one on the way but jsut to be safe, I'm keeping myself away from the piggies cos i dont want them to catch anything, precautionary like!

From what i have heard, as long as you wash your hands before handling their food and try not to breath on them it should be fine:)

They can't catch colds (a human only virus) but they can catch bacterial chest infections. In human's it's often hard to tell the difference between the two so it's best to keep them at arm's length if you're feeling unwell in that way.

I have read that they can catch colds so I always limit the time I spend with my pigs when I am sneezing.

Best to be safe than sorry even ifI am wrong in saying that they can catch colds.
