It's just Patch is watching her mummy die before her eyes. Gertie will be ok. But little Patch had wet eyes.
 
It's an interesting question...I've never heard any evidence of such a reaction to what we see as an emotional event. I believe they do realise when one of their own is close to death/has died and some pigs do grieve, but I don't think their emotional expressions reach to crying.
 
I don't think that piggies cry, but it is heartbreaking to watch them being with a dying friend and realising it!
 
False alarm. Patch has conjuctivitis. Plus the vets is shut. Arrrggghhh!mallethead
