I've read that piggies shouldn't eat nuts and seeds.
Lots of the treats have both as main ingredients.
I'm a tad confused :{
Please can you tell me which, if any, nuts and seeds they can have?
Thanks :)

This is very confusing, as when I was younger or at least when piggy info was more limited, i used to buy those treats on the sticks for them to chew at and they have nuts and seeds, and of course they're marketed for piggies. I don't think they're a great idea though, you're probably better off treating them to a piece of fruit they like, at least that's natural sugar.

I think the common idea now is that treats like that often have too much sugar in anyway so best to avoid. I don't give mine anything like that so not actually sure about the answer to your question, however try guinea lynx, they're very good with food info.

I'm also confused, but i do know that shop bough treats are rubish, your better off getting your piggy some grass from the garden, or giving them a piece of apple, or buying a bag of dried mixed forage (they usually apreciate all of those more than the treats anyway :)) )

Taken from guinea lynx in the food section under what is not reccomended:

Avoid mixes or treats with nuts, seeds, dried fruit and dyed pieces.
Do not feed dairy and meat products (cavies are herbivores)
Avoid seeds in husks (like sunflower seeds), which can be a choking hazard.
Do not feed rabbit pellets (they do not contain Vitamin C and some may even include antibiotics toxic to cavies).
Avoid or use sparingly, cruciferous vegetables (cabbage, collards, bok choy, broccoli), as they may cause gas in your pet.
Do not use mineral wheels. Never use Tang (which contains dyes, refined sugars, and very little vitamin C) in drinking water.
Avoid commercial treats marketed for cavies (like yoghurt drops) which can even be detrimental to their health. Consuming these empty calories (many contain fat, sugars and even excess calcium) can result in decreased consumption of the basic foods they really need.

I believe they contain too much sugar and are a choking hazard so don't buy them for my piggies therefore wouldn't recommend :)
