Can Piggies Pick Up On Your Mood?

my piggies live indoors and I wondered if they could pick up on your mood. Or some could at least. I had a horrific week and I swear one of my little piggies picked up on this. Or it was a coincidence. It was probably a coincidence and I'm reaching for something that's not there, but I did wonder if anyone else had noticed anything similar?
 
I think they can, like even on a basic level things like anger, sadness and playfulness would be obvious from a number of things, whether that's smell, vocal tones etc. Whether they understand the moods themselves I don't know, but I'd bet money on them noticing different mood shifts.
 
I'm pretty sure Cali can detect my emotions. When I'm not feeling positive, I've noticed she is less active. When I'm feeling positive, she's more active. Today, I've been really bored and literally doing nothing but eating and watching cute piggy videos... lol. She has been less active but I know she'll start racing around the cage and wheeking in about 2 hours... cuz that's when veggie time is!!
 
Mine all pick up my mood, they are much more active when I'm happy. They've had a quiet day today spending most of their time lying down in hidies. I had some very sad news from a friend today and I've felt sad and reflective. I just realised we didn't get our usual zoomies at 6 this evening from the young ones either.
 
If i'm in a bad mood the piggies always seem a little bit skittish around me (i'm never in a bad mood at them) so I believe they can pick up on moods and emotions. I know when I was sad my cat used to be quite clingy with me. Not to be crude but I notice during my time of the month Coco will avoid me like the plague, literally like i'm diseased or something lol and won't even let me get her out for lap time or in her case chest time.

When it's my time of the month and I want to cuddle Cali, my boyfriend will have to get her out and set her on my lap. When he takes his hands off her, he swears she looks directly into his eyes and wheeks at the top of her lungs like an "I'm scared" wheek, while desperately trying to get away from me. When he picks her up, she bites him as to say "Why did you let me touch her? I could have died, pig-dad!!"
 
I firmly believe that most social animals can pick up at least some of your mood. They are attuned to 'reading' social cues from their own species- although I doubt they read us as easily as they would another guinea pig, I'm sure that mine pick up on happy/sad/angry from the kids and I.

I was wondering that but maybe i'm just reading too much into it and I was just picking up on one of her bad moods, she's pretty grumpy most of the time so it's quite probable lol.
 
I think they do too My pigs are in my craft room, I go there to chill and be creative. When I'm in there, my pigs seem to chill out too and flop out on their hay...I think most animals pick up on things like moods, etc, though :)
