Hi Everyone

We have 2 lovely piggies called Peppa & Jade and Peppa is just about to have a visit to the vets to stop him becoming a daddy :o. We know we have to wait a while before we can put them together and I was wondering if they can go outside when it is safe to do so? If so what things do I need to buy to keep them warm? They have been in the house for 3 years in seperate cages in the back porch which I have made cosy for them but now I have another baby on the way and we have no room for a pram.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Deb,

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the babe.
Some do put them out and use those covers you can get from Pets at home as well as heat pads, lots of hay to snuggle into, tunnels etc etc.

Hi there
Do you have a shed that you can put them in - mine are in a shed throughout the winter - they live in hutches at night which are covered in blankets and during the day they run around in c&c cages with Barley Straw. Not only is this good for the piggies being under cover it makes it a lot easier for the piggy slave especially when it is raining as you can clean them out undercover. Hope this helps. :)

If they are not going in a shed or similar you will need to insulate your hutches. I use bubble wrap - its cheap and easy to layer. I also have a tarp which i put down at night. Additional hay for bedding and snugglesafe pads for nighttime too.
