I know that alfalfa hay can be eaten by piggies but I also know it is high in calcium which concerns me.
Last week I brought two lots of alfalfa hay in view to feed Eliza in moderation to bulk her up and regain weight she had lost.
Since then, she has had a full check up at the vets and it turns out she hadn't lost weight at all and is still a healthy 900g, just feels more frail due to her age.
I am now stuck with two bags of alfalfa hay and not sure whether I should feed it to the piggies or not as I am wary about the high calcium content and know it should only be fed to piggies under a year old, pregnant sows and piggies who are malnourished. None of mine fit in to the criteria.
Eliza is 6.5 years old weighing in at 900g
Emma is around 1.5 to 2 years and weighs around the 1300g mark
Erika is around 1.5 to 2 years and weighs around the 1450g mark
Enoch is around 18 months and weighs around the 1100g mark
Emma and Erika are chunky girls!
