Gertie is currently making nosies which sound like hiccups and we have noticed her make the same noise before when she has had a drink or gulped her food down. She has just been nicking lettuce off all the others. Does it sound feasible that this is hiccups? She seems fine in herself.

Ok thanks very much, it's just cos she's greedy then lol

I find they can get hiccups but without noise - mild spasms in the abdomen same as us humans, but no noise. It's possible she was coughing, if she was making the noise when eating?

Thanks Laura, most likely coughing then, does that still mean she is wolfing down her food too quickly? She seems fine in herself.

Yep, happens when they bite off more than they can chew, so to speak. rolleyes

If it happens all the time when the pig eats then there could be a problem there, but once or twice in a meal can be perfectly normal.

Thanks Laura, she didn't do it at all last night, I think she does it most when she wants to finish her own veggies as quickly as she can so she can steal everyone elses, little madam. She does it when she is drinking sometimes too.
