We gave all the piggies a handful of readigrass this morning for a treat. Dot, Ethel and Mavis are fine but Betty did not seem her normal self this evening when giving them her veg. She was very quite and looked really sorry for herself. I watched her for a while and picked her up and her bottom did not smell good! She has also done a very squidy greenish poo - yuk! She has taken a few bits of veg but nothing much to speak of, is eating hay and drinking. I have syringed 20 mls of cc into her and will get her to the vet tomorrow if she is still not well.

They often have a handful of grass and a few dandelions, but havent given them readigrass for a couple of weeks so this is the only thing I can think of that has made her tummy like this.

Has anyone else had this problem with readigrass?

Thanks. Bee xx

Ive never had a problem with readygrass and ive given it in a large amount from time to time as a treat for them. Please keep a close eye on your piggie. If need be then syringe feed her throughout the night. If you have some pro biotics then this may be worth giving. Dont give anymore veg tonight, and keep a really close eye on her.

Poor Bettty

Bad bottom smells I'm afraid normally signifies a vet trip. Can you book her in tomorrow? I don;t think this has anything to do with readigrass...she has been "brewing" something and it needs to be checked out pronto.

Please get her to a vet as Pebble says, in the meantime I would stop all her greens; veg/fruit etc & just give her hay & pellets.

Has she been out on normal grass today? Sometimes the grass can be too rich this early in the year & cause bloat. As far as I know Readigrass doesn't cause upset tummies :(

All our Piggys have a handful of it everyday and its never upset their tummys so I wouldn't think it's the Reddigrass that's caused it.

My piggies have readigrass daily or they get upset with mummy standing at their bowls staring. They are 2 years old and have been having it for about a year. I would say its something else causing it.

I hope you find out whats wrong with her. Get well soon lil piggy.

Please take Betty to the vets asap. Eliza once had a runny bum and was put on a course of baytril as well as an injection of something else to help hydrate her.

Please try and keep Betty hydrated and like others have said, do not feed her fruit and veggies

Thanks for all your advice. Got Betty to the vet last night and he gave her an injection to keep her guts moving and intravenous fluids. She is still at the vets with her friend Mavis and the vet wants to make sure that her tummy troubles are better before coming home. She is alot brighter than yesterday too
