Hi I think my piggy is pregnant, actually I'm certain she is. And she or the male has been barbering herself and she seems to have slight hair loss.
No I dont breed my piggys, I think either my son or the OH put them together before Rockys time was up after his castration, even though neither will admit! it rolleyes
Anyway I think she is due within the next few weeks and I was wonderin if its ok to bath her with mite shampoo? The bottle doesnt say anything other than not to use on nursing piggys. She is quite nervous, but I really want to get her done before babies are born. Should I do it or not?

Personally I wouldn't bathing guinea pigs are stressful enough without a bath!
You risk hurting her and her unborn babies if you hold her wrong or she starts to struggle in the bath.

Have you been to the vet to confirm mite?
I would comfirm mite and then ask about treatment as she is pregnant and you dont want to harm her or the babies.:)

I agree. Bathing a piggie is stressful enough for them and particularly for a pregnant piggie. Have you had a firm diagnosis of mites? A vet may be the best one to advise on treatment for a pregnant piggie if this is the case.

It says on my gorgeous guineas yellow slip not to use mite shampoo on pregnant sows.

Hi thanks guys, to tell you the truth I dont think it is as Rocky shows no sign of it, I honestly think that either she or he might be barbering her. And I did think that bathing her would be too stressful, but thought I would get a second opinion, so thanks for the advice.:)
