My 12 year old just came home from school and I opened the front door to find a tiny little box. I opened the box and low and behold, 2 guinea pigs!! How shocking is that?

I am in a state of shock, I have no room for any more right now but will have to juggle, seriously, for room!

One of them looks like she was long haired but has been plucked and is pink eyed. Poor thing looks so skinny and wrinkly. I don't know breeds, she has a fairly round face. The other one is a long haired himalayan, I know that breed lol. She appears to be pregnant and has pink eyes.

They were both really easy to pick up so I assume they have been well handled. They are currently hiding under their hay in a bigger box. Will take pics when I get they are a bit calmer x

oh the poor things!people are sick but at least they put them on the doorstep of someone who looks after piggies.hope you have somewhere for them to stay

Oh, dear - and thinking that those are the lucky ones!

What I can't understand is why people can't sign them over before they are in a right old state! Those dumpers know exactly that they have done wrong, otherwise they would not need to stay anonymous!

Best of luck for those two piggies.

Oh dear, you really do have a full house. I guess this is the problem when people find out that you'll take responsibility for the piggies, they take advantage and just dump them.

Hope you manage to find space for everyone!

Poor little sweeties.

I'm so glad these ones were found. I bet there's some out there that aren't as lucky. :(

poor piggies hope the weather is not as bad with you are it is here in bristol, and they are lucky to have landed in your lap and at least if you can;t keep them you will find them really good homes!

Poor little piggies.
I just dont get why people get animals and then do something like this.

Look forward to piccies when they are a little calmer xx

AWWWWWW well glad they are with you.

Photos when you can poor little pigs.

Plucked? As in like a chicken!?

Yeah, like that. They are defo both girls. I don't think the one she is with has done it as they are getting on well together. She has defo had her hair pulled out and she has some small bite marks on her too. I'll take a pic later so you can see what I mean x

Poor piggies - being dumped:(

On the plus side at least they were left where they will be taken care of. I've had piggies dumped on my doorstep, bad enough I know, but I've also found some (or rather my dog did) thrown in a ditch in a cardboard box - I despair of the human race sometimes :(

Teresa that's HORRIBLE. Poor poor baby / babies being thrown in a ditch.

Allegedly we are a civilised race but we see a different story all too often on this forum. :(

i know it sounds stupid but its not a skinny guinea is it a hairless one ??malletheadmallethead

Poor girls, Are you sure it isn't bad fungal or mites, that can look pretty bad!

Unfortunately, dumped piggies are a very common occurence at my house, over the last 14 months, i have had over 20 on my doorstep, as well as a couple of rabbits!

Its got worse since the recession, i think that somepeople don't want to spend money on pigs with medical problems, so they just dump them.

What goes around, comes around.

Fingers crossed for a full recovery.

Ali

No it's defo not a skinny piggy, the hair on her face is long and lush!

And it isn't mites. I have 3 with mites at the mo and it defo isn't that. The skin is clear and there is only a few bite marks.

They are both sooooo skinny though, as in underweight!

Poor pigs, they are exceptionally lucky to have been left with you (even if it makes thing tough on you).

I wonder if someone from your school did it knowing you had a kind heart

lets hope you can rehome them and so begins thier new life

Those poor girlies - but at least they have found a safe place now where they can be brought back to good health. I do think that sometimes these things start because people are ignorant, but then they seem to think that small pets are somehow less important and so don't think it's 'worth' a trip to the vet. Makes me so cross GGGRRR!

oh poor little girls, they are lucky they have come to a good home, i hope they make a full recovery.

How dreadful I'm glad they are with someone who will take good care of them now. How are they doing today?

Well we were up very late last night with the 2 girlies. They are both pregnant by the looks of it and are both very dehydrated. We syringe fed them water last night and this morning.

Ellie is nearly bald on her body due to some viscious attack and is very weak and listless and has some bite marks. She looks to be pregnant but I am not sure, only time will tell. We have given her about 24 mls of water in 12 hrs and lots of food to pick her up and put weight on.

Hannah is the Himilayan one, she is also pregnant by the looks of it and very very skittish. I have some pics but I'll have to post them later.

We also have had our first donation. I don't even think we have decided to be a rescue but my friend saw my status on Facebook and offered to buy us a cage for the girls. So they are now named after her and her daughter (Hannah also happens to be my youngest daughters name lol)

I'll post pocs later. Thanks for asking about them everyone x

They are lucky to have you to look after them

OMG that's awful, i'm sickened to here they were dumped mallethead
I think you're wonderful to look after them and care for them x)
That's lovely of your friend to offer to buy them a cage and i love their names x)x)x)
Good luck i hope they're not pregnant :...

What a really lovely gesture that someone decided to buy you a cage for them, fingers crossed they both make it through this ordeal and back to perfect health! I really hope they are not pregnant and look forward to seeing some pics soon xox
