Can you Groom 2 Guinea Pigs with 1 brush?

Hi!

I just got a brush for my guinea pigs from the petstore. I herd that Guinea pigs get upset if they have another sent on them, and may pull out their fur if this happens!
So, I was going to get two brushes, but they only had one in the petstore:^-

My question is: is it safe to use one brush for two guinea pigs?

I've never heard that before! I use the same one and haven't had any issues. Maybe someone else can shed sone light?
 
Yes, they are cage mates. They are either sisters or mother and daughter- I was sold them as sisters, but one is a lot bigger than the other and looks much more adult like.

Well, I groomed them a little today with the same brush. I suppose I'll continue on unless someone has an other opinion.

By the way, when I got them, Miika had a mat on her bum. Should I cut it out? She's afraid of the scissors, though... how do I get her to relax? :^-

It is fine to use the same brush. If the mat is bad and cannot be brushed through I would cut it but be so gentle not to get close to her skin.
 
Thanks! Well, I've been brushing them plenty and when I got out the scissors to cut it up, the mat just fell out! I have no idea how it happened... I wasn't playing with it or anything!

Well, I ended up cutting her bum hair off- I hate it when she gets a wet bum and I herd that this helps. By the way, is it normal for white guinea pigs to have a yellow bum from pee? my other cavy, Luna, had a yellow bum when I got her {:|

I've found that most long haired guinea pig's with a white bum, do a wee and then sit in it and turn yellow! When I had long haired guinea pig's they all had haircuts round their bums, but they're master minds are getting the other bits matted and gross :))
 
I got a set of 3 brushes which I use on mine. I will swap them round so they do all use each others and I've not had any problems (Yet!)
