My new girl needs another name.

IMG_4299.jpg

Her current name is Örat (meaning The Ear, it doesn't sound half as weird in Swedish....), but it doesn't suit her! I don't know why her old owners chose it, and I don't feel compelled to keep it. They most likely won't visit according to the rescue.

As you can see she's pretty :) with longish black and white fur. Her temprament is quite calm and she seems nice and sweet. I was thinking about Madame, but my sister doesn't like it. Do you know of a character, fictional or real, who fits her description? Or anything else? I've been thinking about queen names, but Elisabeth, Margrethe or Victoria just seems a little too much for a piggy...

She is gorgeous, what about Missy or Edith or Coco? I'm thinking Missy Eliot, Edith Piaf and Coco Chanel.

What about Desiree? It is the name of a Swedish queen (the first of the Bernadotte queens) and it means "desired, wished for"?

Christina is another famous Swedish queen. Or you could call her Ronya (Ronja) after a character from Astrid Lindgren. I always liked that name!

Or Solveig from the one in Peer Gynt? She is the calm one that waits so long for him to return, so it would suit her as well.

I had a dutch rabbit the same haha. I called him Patrick. Hmm have you looked at the names in Peter Rabbit?

Mable or Maple is nice... I don't know why but Starfish comes to mind lol!
Yang or Ying (for the oppisite colours) Nancy was a women in Oliver Twist I think fits her nature you described, I hope I gave some decent suggestions lol! x goodluck. She is beautiful.

Oh Victoria and Elisabeth can be shortened like Viky, or Beth, Elisa, Lisabeth, libby, I can't remember the really nice one you can shorten Elisabeth too which annoys me now =S hmmm. might post later if I think of it.

Thanks for your suggestions! Many nice ones! To complicate things further I want the name to work in both Swedish and English, if possible... My other piggies have two names each. One for this forum and one I use everyday. Princess is great but the nick she would get in Swedish (Sessan) is one of my nicknames... Solveig is my mothers best friends name (but I love that idea). I thought about both Desiree and Christina but both seems "too much" for a little pig. I'm gonna try Missy and Coco to see how it feels!

Ronja is a dog's name over here! I love that character! It was one of my favourite books as a kid and I used to pretend I was her :)

As you probably know, I'm rubbish at names, but I think she quite suits Missy :)

The first thing I thought when I saw her photo was either Evie or Bea (but I can't link it to any characters, though!)

She looks like a 'Jemima' to me..What about Phyllis. Or you could go with a Scottish name such as Morag! How about calling her Angie Babes:(|):(|)

Freya is a great name! Our neighbour is of Norwegian descent and they have named their daughter Freya to go with her surname... ;)

Greta might be another name that crosses easily - Greta Garbo made that one famous!

I like Freyja. I thought of some more, you said you thought Elisabeth was too much, what about Lizzie? Or Gem/Jem?

I think I have a little Freja... It feels right! We snuggled a long time tonight (I got peed on) and I tried the name out.

I have too many friends named Annika and Astrid :). I thought about the black and white too, but Magpie is just plain mean. Domino is great but maybe for a more forward pig than my little one? I'm definitely saving Lady for the future... (Yes, I see more piggies in my future :) -but definitely not until summer now so that I know things are working out )

Greta is great for a shy pig. I will keep it in mind but I don't love the English pronounciation... Maybe just Garbo? Oh, names, what fun! Thanks for helping me!

Midnatt means Midnight in Swedish. I think that may suit her becasue she is black. I also think she suits a Star, that is Stjarna in Swedish.

You could think of some longer names like Nightstar which is Nattsjarna in Swedish.

Freya is a pretty name, as is the new pig.

I offer you a link to my name webpages for help in future pig naming. If I am allowed to post a direct link I will do that for you. (I'm new here and unsure yet) It is a section of my site that is very unfinished, yet I have still accumulated a large selection of categorized name lists for helping people name piggies. :)
