Yes, the camera is somewhat close, but she does this quite often. During lap time, and even when I have her on my bed so I can speak to her at eye level. I have a feeling that she's making this sound out of annoyance, but I'm not sure. She only does this when I take her out of her habitat!

What do you all think? (btw, I apologize for the way the video turned out. Apple doesn't make Android --> MacBook uploads all that easy

Sounds like a happy piggy to me! Nothing to worry about. Has she got a friend?

I'm happy to say that her cagemate will be arriving on Thursday! Her name is Thistle and she's 5 months older (and fully grown). She's much more accustomed to humans, having been held and cared for by them since she was tiny. Her cagemate had pups, and the owner thought it would be better to rehome her. She's in good health, so I'm going to pick her up Thursday.

I got the guinea pig in the video (Juniper) from Pet Smart, and I'm probably the first human she's been around on a consistent basis. On Saturday, I will have had her for 3 weeks. She'll be 2 months old at some point this week. I'm relieved to hear that she is happy. I'm sure she'll be a lot happier when her new friend arrives, though. I know I probably should have gotten 2 guinea pigs in the same day, but I was looking at Thistle for a few weeks before getting Juniper. So I figured I would get Juniper and wait it out for Thistle.

It is recommended to give your new piggy a 2 week quarantine before introducing them to a piggy already in your home and then introduce them carefully. There is a whole section on bonding in this guide.

Behaviour, Bonding & Bereavement Guides

It takes you through what to expect and has been written for complete novices who have never introduced piggies before. Hopefully they will get on and be a happy pairing.

Any questions just ask! There are some really experienced members here that can guide you. I have only done it the once so I am not really the best to advise.

chatty little noises :)

Hope the bonding goes well, as @Betsy has said have a read of the guides they will help, but any questions please just ask, we are here to help :)
Your piggy is beautiful!

My Hazel does that constantly throughout cuddles and sometimes Chestnut replies. They are just chatting to you or other piggies around them, a happy pig!:luv:

That is just a normal chatty piggy sound when your piggy is up and running and keeping the group a constant 'I'm OK' status update.

Sounds happy to me

Has Thistle arrived safely?

Unfortunately, Thistle was rehomed by someone else. The owner didn't receive a few of my texts and took the lack of replies as an indication that I had lost interest. My texts finally went through, but she had been rehomed by then. I did end up getting Thistle's cagemate. Her name is Rosalind and she's two years old!

How lovely.
We need pics of her.
How did the bonding go?

Rosalind's last day of quarantine was yesterday, so I'm starting to introduce them. Juniper is happy to meet her new pal, Rosalind goes around her, chatters her teeth, and lifts her nose up. Juniper doesn't really seem to do anything back except run away. Then she goes right back up to her and tries again. They can see and interact with one another through the cage, but that's it. I mean, Rosalind is much bigger than Juniper, so she will be in charge by the time they meet, I would suppose. But Juniper's only response to Rosalind's display is to run.

By my estimation, by the time I put them together, Rosalind will probably push Juniper around and resume her dominance displays, I just wonder if Juniper will understand.

She’s beautiful.
I either missed the thread or forgot I’d seen it.
