I'm going to be spending three months abroad (June- August) and have nobody to take care of my 2 male guinea pigs. I have looked at various boarding options but they all seem to work out quite expensive for this length of time. I'm also slightly concerned as most places will put them in a small hutch outside, but they're used to having a lot of space indoors to run around. I find they get irritated if they're cooped up too long. Is there anyone in the Glasgow or Edinburgh area who would be willing to take them on for the summer? I will of course compensate for food/bedding costs etc, and can provide my own cage and run combo. I know it takes up a bit more space than the average cage, but it would just be great to know that they would be getting proper attention and space while I'm away. Anyone interested or know anyone who would be?

You too far for me to help out:(

Good luck with finding a temporary home for your piggies, I would love to be in a position to help but it's lack of room with me. I am sure someone will be able to help you. Where is it you are?

I've asked my OH and he says no :( but if you are still struggling pm me in a couple of weeks and I will ask him again. I can sometimes wear him down.

I live in Edinburgh but I have family in Glasgow as well, so I could pretty much get them anywhere around central Scotland.

I'm in Liverpool and would happily help out but I don't drive so if you're able to drive down and drop them off with me then I'm you're gal! But I think it might be a bit too much of a drive for your boys. Are there any local papers/websites you an advertise on? Or a local pet store you can place an ad in?

Thanks for all your offers but you're all a bit too far away, sadly. I don't have my own car either so would have to rely on family to drive me, and I don't think they'd be so willing to drive down south. Thanks though.

guessing I am no good for you either if you don't drive I am Northampton.

that's a real shame, we have a few members in Scotland...

O opps why did I think you where in MK then I am deffo no good opps.

Hello,

I had to wait until hubs got home to ask :)) but we live in Musselburgh (Me, husband, Griff & Malcolm pig and Herbie ginger cat / pig-in-training,) and I think we could make room for your boars if you are still needing someone. I'll send you a message.

It seems I can't send you a message because of your profile settings. Please do get in touch though if you still need someone. Thanks!

Kim

Hey Castaway! I've changed my profile settings but it still isn't letting me send messages for some reason. If you're in Musselburgh, I could manage to organise someone to drive me down to you. That would be a brilliant offer if you are still willing. Is your cat ok with guinea pigs, it's just that part of my cage has an open top :S

you need to have done 50 posts to be able to pm someone.

Heart toes, send me an email at [email protected] and we can sort something out!

Herbie cat is find with the piggies. Actually, they are interested in them, but he mainly just looks at them in disgust and tries to get away as fast as he can. I still wouldn't trust him on his own with pigs though. He doesn't come in the living room when we're not here. Although the boys' cage has a top, the door is often open. Anyhow, we can work something out. Look forward to hearing from you!

Just thought I would say hi as another Edinburgh piggy person

Hello Rosierum! I think we've got the pig summer holidays sorted out now. I thought I'd ask though (and sorry for the tangent,) which vet do you use? I take my boys to the Vet Hospital, but don't feel 100% confident in doing so. Always on the look out for a super cavy savy vet.
