Mine have a constant supply of hay. They get a bowl of dried pellets which I top up morning and at night if it needs it. Mine normally just get 1 bowl of vegetables at dinner-time, this is just to try and keep costs down but this week they have been getting a little extra as I got some bargains.
thank fully hubby is a chef and brings loads of veggy bits home from work so saves me a fortune we were only discussing that if we had to pay for everything they had it would cost us an arm and a leg
Yes you can definitely over-feed. Like all animals (and humans! ) they will gorge themselves on the things they enjoy most, so it's important to get the quantities and proportions right. You want to aim for approx 80% hay, so if they are stuffing themselves on too many veg and dried food, they won't be eating 80% hay.
