I was just handling (and cuddling) Candy now and when I went to pop her back in the hutch, i saw that she had pooed on me- but the thing is it didn't look like a poo- well it did sort of but it had sticky yellow stuff around the edge of it and it was light brown in colour- not the normal dark brown and it looked a bit un-even around the edge if that makes sense- sort of rougher that the usual smooth poos... is this a disease that Candy is starting to get or is it normal? Is it lethal/ and emergency?

if you could post a pigture.......... and also say what diet she's been on.......this will help for people to advise :)
but if you're unsure contact your vets and speak to them for advice :)

How is she in herself? Eating/drinking ok? Is she bright or lethargic? Does she seem uncomfortable or hunched up in any way. If she is unwell then piggies dont show us signs very well (being a prey species) . Has she had anymore poo's like this? Or just the one?

x.

Sticky yellow mucus attached to poos is the first sign the gut is not working properly. Is it just the one poo or is it several? are the poos slightly smaller than their normal size?

This in turn suggests she's not eating her usual daily amount of food and veggies which in itself is an early warning sign of pain from first off dental or urinary issues.

At this point, unless you take her to a very experienced vet who can examine the teeth properly (and who may wish to do an X ray to rule out other problems) you probably will not get anywhere finding out what's wrong.

Monitor her poo output/appearance and also her veggie intake....if it is lower than normal then you need a vet visit within 48 hour. You might also want to try and feed her a bit of critical care at the moment to help supplement her diet, keep the guts moving and hopefully get the poos back to normal.

HTH - please post back if mucus is still evident tomorrow.
