hello
Reasonably new to guinea pigs as an adult. Had them as a child, but recently rescued a boar and now just got him a female (he’s neutered).
I initially had him on megazorb, then decided to switch to fleece, which I did like, but got very frustrated with the hay, so now have half fleece/half megazorb, which is better, but still not convinced it’s how I want it!

I'm reluctant to get rid of the fleece after spending so much on it. It’s got the waterproof inner, but I’m still finding it’s a bit damp to touch. How often should I expect to change it? (two pigs in a 2x4 c&c, half fleece).

Oh and also noticed they’ve been gnawing at the Correx! How do I stop that?!

I clean the same way as Pearl and zip however I did use the lower and upper lofts for the first 1x2 panels to put litters in. The chloroplast is the bottom and fleece with liners are made up for the other 6x2 with hideys, forests, etc but I keep the kitchen separate with the additional litters, soft bedding, hay and water bottles. This usually only requires changing every week or two, depending on the area they use most that week. They tend to now stay up in the loft even though there are two kitchen areas up and down so I change that more often but it's easier to change and doesn't retain the dampness so much for their play area. Corners are always going to have feces, even where they sleep (the opposite end of the kitchen near forests and fleece blanket) but they aren't damp and I vacuum that twice daily. It really does keep it very clean.

I guess change it around that is best suited for your own babies. I think they generally use the bathroom in dampness most where they eat so I never put fleece in this area for that reason. It has worked so far. It's a separated chloroplast low box with opening and corner litter box. Hope this helps a bit. I know how frustrating and real work it can be for the cages sometimes.
