Hello I will quickly go through our process.
We used this play gate.
Cut saw and grinded and hand sanded and power sanded.
We cut it up alot.
Our problem is 1: mainly the ramp.
Don't know how/what material/ too narrow down?
2: can they jump out the top? Need a roof?
3:light source in the bottom part.
Here are some pictures!

Also with every penny this is what I got them, the box's will be houses.

Please help!
When done will post pictures!

Some one please help!
Blood sweat and tears and exhausted

You're in USA? Why didn't you buy regular C&C grids? They're much cheaper.

From your pics, looks like the panels are 12 inches high, some pigs can jump out if they are very determined. Most will not. Unless you have males trying to get to females, you shouldn't have to worry about it.

I wanted to buy c&c and my wife wanted to save money. By saving money I could buy the other things the pigs needed

But your play pen is $59?
You could buy a box of grids from these places between $20 - $25.

Anyways, since you already built it out. Guess you'll have to make it work.
Do you have any leftover panels to make the ramp?
You can also make a ramp with a piece of wood. Screw 2 cup hooks to the end and hang it to the floor of the loft. Would be good idea to add side rails for the ramp too.

For the light source, can you add rope lights to the outside of the cage?

By the way, hay is much cheaper if you buy in bulk.
http://www.kmshayloft.com/hay/ (calculate the price + shipping, and divide by weight)
http://smallpetselect.com/ (this one often offer free shipping coupon, but comes out to be more expensive than the link above for me)

And even cheaper if you buy by the bale. Look for good quality horse hay near you.

We had the play pin from our baby. Way before we got the guinea pigs

We have a big huge chunk of wood. But worried about splinters

I wish we could get grids at that price here in the UK, they've raised the prices to something stupid.. I bought two boxes last year, they were roughly £25 each... then when I went to look for another box.. they had doubled in price...

I'm All different types of out of money for a few weeks after the buying guinea pig stuff.
Still have to buy baby diapers. But I'll see what we can do. We spent all yesterday on the top floor

I don't know if I can get carpet I'll have to see if I can get a ride and some extra money

I c get the wood slab. Cut it. Cut it. Sand it. Put holes in it.
Is gorrila glue okay for the sides?

:DI can't quite understand what you are doing there. :hmm:Why didn't you just use the child's play pen as a C and C cage? :tu:Or at least part of one?

Progress report:
Support beams.
There still sneezing I blocked the side from the ac. And a little bit around the cage with cardbord.
