I went to my local garden centre today. I found a brand new pet section that was never there before. They had rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and rats, all in very clean and surprisingly large enclosures indoors.

I glanced by at the piggys as you do, and noticed what looked like a little Rex. Brown and white and just gazed up at me. My heart melted because it reminded me so much of my old Rex Brillo. I don't even know if the pig was male or female but I can't stop thinking about it.

Do you ever go somewhere and get attached to a pig you've literally only just seen? There's no way I could have another at the moment. I'm just hoping they all go to good homes. But that little Rex in particular keeps cropping back up in my mind.

I think that is only natural when you see a piggy that reminds you of one of your own they are bound to stick in your mind. Brillo was such a special little man.

Oh I know just what you mean. Was it Bardill's? I heard they had a pet section now and I was meaning to go to check if it was up to scratch ;)
I keep thinking of a piggy I saw in the adoption section of P@h a few weeks ago, he looked so sad alone and was called Ziggy.

That is true. I just felt really guilty walking away. I guess if I felt like that all the time id end up adopting every guinea pig in sight!

No it was at a place called Brookfields?

Awwwh bless him :( this piggy had friends and didn't look sad in any way. There was just something about him/her that jumped out to me. Just wanted to scoop them up and take them with me...

The only thing that stopped me coming home with Ziggy is that we have a lot of animals and I have to be realistic about affording potential vet bills etc.

Yes @Goth Mummy that is very true. I don't have the space for another piggy. Plus if the little one was male I definately wouldn't have that option!

Just found it strange how much I adored them after only seeing them for a few seconds! Fingers crossed they will get a lovely home.

It is perfectly natural.

I know Brookfields well but haven't been for quite some time. Do you mean the one on Mapperly Top or is there more than one Brookfields in Nottingham? The last time I went, they only had an aquatics section.

There is a garden centre near here that sells animals. Unfortunately it isn't the nicest place. There were 3 guinea pigs altogether and they were huge so it makes me wonder how long they have been there :( I also keep thinking that someone will probably take two and leave one behind :(

There was also a young piggy in the adoption Centre of a new P@H that has recently opened near here. I very nearly had her but decided against it and now I feel really guilty but as I only have space for one more girl, I have decided to wait in case an emergency situation crops up.

Yes that's the one on Mapperly top! I live about 5 minutes from there :) they have a large pet section now.

Awww poor little things :( I try not to walk past the P@H adoption section because I always fall in love with any pigs in there...

My in laws live on the top of Gedling Road (near the Arrow pub) and I have a friend who lives in Woodthorpe near Westdale lane :)

I try and avoid the adoption centre too :(

Oh wow that's really close to me! I went to the school facing the arrow pub and my boyfriend lives just behind the arrow :)

Yeah it's not good :( although I haven't seen many guinea pigs in the adoption section recently.

I'm glad you told me about this. I do my utmost to avoid any pet shop that sells live mammals. Brookfields at Mapperly used to be one of my "pit stops" . Not any more.

Yes I had no idea they were even planning a pet section. It took me by surprise when I went in! I knew they had fish before but never mammals. I think they've extended the actual building a little? Do you go often?

I'm never a fan either. But I was glad to see they were living in decent conditions at least.

On a plus note we managed to get some lovely Geraniums :tu:

Lol Arnold Hill? My OH and a few of my friends went there and my in laws live straight opposite.

We were barred from the Arrow (along story) many moons ago but I'm allowed back in now and we're often in there when we come back to visit. I used to live in Netherfield before moving up to Lacashire in 2006

It's a small world :D

Glad you got some nice geraniums. I don't go there that often - but but was a useful lunch stop when I was travelling through that area .

Yes. Think the last time I went before today was last spring for lunch.
