Captain Jack and Sirius - Buddies?

Tried Captain Jack (a 5 year old boar that came in after his partner died) and Sirius Black (poorly pig) together today in the play pen - and so far so good! No rumbles or anything, they just settled down to eating lettuce and are now relaxed together. I'm going to leave it at that for today and do the same again tomorrow, I think they'd be ok together but I'm out tonight and don't want to risk it!

Sirius was feeling well enough to steal Captain Jack's piece of lettuce - even though there were lots of other pieces!

Then once the lettuce was gone, Sirius gave Captain Jack's ears a good old clean - quite sweet!

Wouldn't it be lovely if they do bond successfully, sounds good so far.

Two lovely pigs!
 
They are now sharing a cage and seem very ok about it ... Sirius is asleep in the corner, so obviously not worried!

Fingers crossed. Sirius has not been well lately and I thought the company of another pig would do him good, he was in with Elvis before but Elvis is too pushy and gets all the foodrolleyes

Well, this morning I came downstairs to find Sirius asleep in Captain Jack's hammock - quite funny to see, as I usually feed Captain Jack his veg in the hammock to get him used to it, so he was looking quite confused to find Sirius in his 'food bowl'! They shared breakfast without a cross word, so - so far, so good!

Sirius in the hammock (sorry, he's so black he doesn't show up well!)

awww,soooo cute! i love it when piggies give that confused look, i get it most days as one of the piggies manages to confuse the others somehow at least once a day! my piggies are silly though xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
 
Fantastic! I think you know pretty quickly wether they are going to get along or not, it is so lovely when they are paired up successfully x)

especially with boars! i think sows are pretty easy to bond, we had two bonded pairs and as soon as all four of them were aware of each other, they used to talk across the room, them when they went in the run together they all loved each other!
 
Good news is they're now in a larger indoor cage and living happily together, although they are like kids, both wanting the hammock! I can see I'm going to need to buy another hammock...

Sirius is not a well pig, which was why I hadn't tried sooner - I don't want Captain Jack to get attached and then Sirius dies and he's alone again :(
