I’m distraught...came home had dinner and went to feed the pigs, Jack in a bad way. I’m sat at vets in the emergency room...cgoing to cost a bomb but I don’t care. Anyone who knows me knows I’ve had him a long time- over 6years and I’m so upset.
Here’s my boy at the weekend.

Hope the vet can help him, thinking of you x

Myself and my piggies are thinking of you and Captain Jack.
You in the right place to deal with what's up.
It's only money you are right.
Massive vibes to you. x

Thank you everyone, I'm only just back. I don't care about the bill
so this is the situation.
Jack is 6.5yrs old.
He's getting old and has never been a big piggy.
He was eating last night, check on them this morning - all fine.
tonight - hunched in the bedroom of the hutch.
Symptoms
Looks emaciated - vet agrees
Foaming at the mouth - mucus coming from nose and mouth, clear but sticky fluid.
Wet chin.
Sneezing.
Wretching.

Diagnosis - it's not URI - is a gut issue.
No food in his mouth (that's a worry)
Teeth in good condition.
Mucus from both nostrils and mouth and therefore would expect it from one side. ruled out pneumonia.

Treatment:
Emperid injection & Ranitidine 2ml injection
Emeprid 0.36ml twice daily
Ranitidine 0.2ml twice daily

I'm now feeding him on recovery care and that will be my night gone in a flash as I decamp to the spare room so I get set the alarm and get up and feed him - I dunno every two hours?

Thoughts?

Every 2 hrs should be fine. Sending hugs to Captain Jack :hug:I am in the same condition as you. Colt and Cory have ringworm and I’m waiting for their medicine. They have to have creams (I have them) and oral Turbinafine (I ordered 2 day shipping and it takes forever :hmm:). Cory and Colt wanted me to tell Captain Jack to feel better!

Thank you.
On a night when I appear not be suffering from insomnia!
Flippin typical.

Sending love and hugs your way xx. I’d agree every 2 hours little and often is best when a piggy is this poorly.

Glad he's home again with you and has a diagnosis. What's the ranitidine for? I've used emeprid, so know that one.

Looks like you're not going to get much sleep tonight. As there was no food in his mouth, I take it he hasn't eaten anything for a while, so I'd agree with every couple of hours. How is he with being syringe fed?

The ranitidine is zantac so gut to deal with gastroesophageal reflux.
Yes i'm syringe feeding recovery care and rinsed with water too.
I've also got him on a heat pad too and he's currently on my lap but id say he can't get comfy for some reason.

Poor little fella, he's obviously still feeling uncomfortable in his tummy. Hopefully the meds will kick in soon and you get some sleep tonight.

I used to find watching some netflix and syringe feeding at the same time really helped with relaxing a bit and just kept me going. Sounds weird but helped. It kept my mind off of thinking negative and before i knew it i had done 15ml of critical care.

Sorry that Captain Jack is so poorly, sending lots of healing vibes to him. Hope you manage to get some decent rest in between syringe feeds tonight too.

Thanks everyone. I know we’ve all had an ill piggy at some point but jack is incredibly special. So it’s 2.15am here in the UK and this guy was snoozy when I woke to feed him. He’s done brilliantly with his food, he’s had a fair amount and really wanted his water too so I’m feeling encouraged so far.

At least he wants his syringe food and is taking it which is s good sign that he wants to keep going. You are doing an amazing job with him. Syringe feeding through the night is exhausting. We have all been there at some point. Which recovery food are you giving him? Come on Captain Jack get better for Mummy. My lot send you lots of healing wheaks.
