Miss Capybara (Capy/Bara/Bra-Bra) came to live with us 3 years ago when I lost my beloved Rillo, who was 7 years old.
I still had 3 of Rillo's mates, but as they were all roughly a year or 2 younger than Rillo, one by one, they've all shuffled off, so Capy was left alone (I was too disheartened to just 'go & get another guinea' & believed that the right piggy would come along).
One caught my eye at a Rescue Centre but unfortunately, with him being 50 miles away from me, was snapped up by someone else.
I heard a little rumour that there were some Skinnies available (have always wanted a skinny as I'm quite allergic to Piggies & thought maybe they would be better, plus the fact that I personally think they're absolutely adorable).
Off I toddled & I ended up coming home with a little black female skin (who we have named 'Liquorice' or 'Rish' for short; nothing ends up keeping it's proper name in this house!).
We have had Rish for 4 weeks now & although her & Capy are not yet 'cage mates' they seem to have bonded very well. Capy is very gentle with Rish, eventhough Rish is absolutely fascinated by Capy's hair & keeps nibbling on it. Thanks. Betsy is a cutie. Certainly different having a skinny! Just going through the 'dry skin' issues at the moment (she won't allow me to file her nails when they've been clipped & has managed to scratch her skin quite badly, which has luckily healed now, but has been left dry). Took her vets for a check up (he reckons she has mites & is treating her as such, but I'm pretty sure she doesn't & it's just a case of the skin being dry from the healing). Asked him if coconut oil or Aloe Vera was best for dry skin & he old me you shouldn't use ANYTHING on them. Hmmm...

Lol! Thanks! She is slowly starting to develop her little personality. She is quite skittish & a complete tease. Her wheeks for food also seem to be so much shriller than any other guin I've had. She's totally besotted with Capy & follows her everywhere when they are out together.27858194_10156087138234246_8273123336875754927_n.webp
 
Oh I love black skinny pigs, for some reason they always make me think of baby aardvarks. I have NO IDEA why, maybe the ears?

Funnily enough, that's what my OH said! My daughter looked at her when we first got her & said "Oh mum, she's so ugly you HAVE to love her" XD

OMG this is soooooo cute! She is TINY! I've always wanted a skinny pig and definitely will get some in the future -though perhaps I could just steal this cutie.........

Thanks. She is a tinkster at the moment but then again she's only 3 1/2 months old. At the rate she eats she'll probably get bigger very soon. We've established that so far her favourites are carrot, sweet potato, grapes & tomato. She doesn't seem too fussed about Parsley (I've NEVER known a guin to turn their nose up at parsley!), lettuce or grass at the moment but hopefully I can introduce her to dandelions soon.
