Caramel Has A Small Piece Of Hay In His Eye. What Do I Do?!

Hi, I know this is an old thread, but I was wondering if someone could help please. Our guinea pig got a small piece of hay stuck in his eye a while ago, and we took him to the vet, who removed it within 30 seconds and gave us a tiny tube of cream for it. The cost was £50! Does that seem reasonable for this treatment? Basically, I am wondering whether to try a different vet next time we need one, as this felt rather a lot! Thanks
 
It really does vary how much a consult is, my vets charge about £17 plus the cost the cream but others can charge a lot more.
