Cardboard and chewing

My little guinea pig is going to have a dental on one tooth which has a sharp bit on it on Monday. Is it ok for little piggies to chew cardboard. If I put the proper chewy wood bits for her to gnaw she isn't really interested but she was out having a run and there was some cardboard and she seemed happy to chew on that. Obviously I don't want to let her do that if it is bad for her but if it is it might help her teeth. Does anyone know please?

Many thanks.

Hi

Cardboard is fine to chew. We stick fruit and veg, hidden inside hay, into kitchen roll cardboard and the piggies have fun shredding them and getting the food out.

Excellent, thank you very much for your response. I might get a loo roll cardboard bit and put that in there, I think she might like a good chew of that.

Mine love chewing on cardboard too.

They also appear to have a thing for megazorb and go away down digging for it under the hay.

Mine chew (and eat) loads of card and paper. We also put hay into bog roll tubes and they like that.

I have an upside down shoe box in one of the bedroom bits, with a little hole cut out so they can hide in there. They love to chew away at it, then I just replace with another. They don't really bother with the toilet roll tubes even if we stuff them with hay. I think shoe boxes are a bit thicker which they seem to like.

Is it okay for them to eat the carboard/loo roll middle bit? I worry in case it clogs them up if you know what I mean.
