Cardboard bedding

My vet suggested dust free cardboard bedding after i took baby Ebony in with clicky breathing.

I ordered some and it basically it a big bag of ripped up cardboard!

It says it it absorbant but I'm struggling to see how. Has anyone tried this sort of bedding?


Also, i think it might need to go in my general waste bin after use which wont be good as it is a tiny bin.

Usually i can get old bedding in my big composting bin but i dont think cardboard can go in there.


I ordered 2 massive bags of the stuff too! Thinking this might be a mistake.


Has anyone tried shredded cardboard and is it any good?

Yes I’ve used it for several months in fact.
I had it as a base layer and then hay on top. It works well, removing wet areas when necessary. I did like it but the supplier I was getting it from stopped selling it so I had to find an alternative bedding, but I’m not sure if I would have used it longer term though as I’ve found other things since which I’ve preferred.

My council takes animal waste so I use my green council composting bin
