I've been out and bought some cardboard carriers in anticipation of collecting my piggies next week. The boxes are from PaH. I was just wondering how many piggies it will comfortably hold. The boxes will be stuffed with hay obviously and wasn't sure if that'd affect the number. Its just so I can go out and buy more boxes if need be.

The largish ones will hold a couple of pigs comfortably if you're not travelling too far. Really though you would be just as well getting some large cardboard boxes for free from shops etc., and maybe buy one good plastic carrier for vet visits (which I hope you don't have too many of) etc. xx

I agree with Nutmeg. Cardboard boxes will do exactly the same job. But I would be inclined to get a plastic cat carrier. They aren't that expensive, aldi are selling them for about £5 at the moment. They will last better than the cardboard ones. They are more sturdy and I find that guinea don't 'freak out' in them in the same way they do cardboard boxes.

I use a cat carrier which I paid £10 for. We initially used the cardboard ones but when they wee and poo in it they don't last long!

When we took Athena to the vets the other night we put some food in the carrier for them ( I always take a friend along for them ) which seemed to settle them a bit more than they normally are so you could maybe take some food along with you to give to them on the way back?

You could loan my carrier to pick them up if you like though? ( I've only ever had 2 in at a time, not sure if 3 might be a bit of a squeeze )

I use cat carriers too, got mine from wilkinsons, very cheap. If you do buy a cat carrier it is worth checking whether you it can be completely unlatched. The door, and the top and bottom parts all come apart on mine for easy cleaning. Also a wad of newspaper in the bottom of whatever you use is always advisable for leaky peeing piggies! :))

I have a cheapo cat carrier I got from P@H its not the prettiest thing but it does the job and I feel much more secure when we go on piggy trips
