Hiya, i wondered if cardboard was ok for them to chew? as they have been eating a bit today from a loo roll :S I heard it wasnt good fro them.. I also wondered if it is ok for them to chew wood? Thanks uu xx

Piggies love chewing on toilet rolls and cardboard boxes. When I put in cardboard boxes for them I always just doublecheck to make sure there are no staples in it. (Just to be on the safe side) They just love gnawing on cardboard and a toilet roll tube can keep them amused for days until they have completely destroyed it!

thanks for the reply :) Just i heard that they had chemicals in them etc that could harm them? x

Some toilet rolls that are scented or have lubricant in them (like aloe vera) may leave residue on the holder and I would imagine these should not be given to piggies to chew If you use standard unscented toilets rolls then these should be fine. The piggies would probably turn their noses up at a scented toilet roll holder anyway. This is just my opinion and I'm sure others will comment further..

Its all about the "Chubes".... My girls go crazy for them! They are like extra large toilet paper rolls that the pet store sells. They are meant for them to nibble on and are all natural so you don't have to worry about anything bad getting into thier tummys.

It would be a rare guinea pig that did not chew cardboard!

Yes that happened to one of mine poor thing. It was very scary for her and for me.
