Back at home over the weekend and I've just seen a newspaper article saying a care home/residential home have just got some guinea pigs for their residents to look after( old people not children) and 4/5 of them are pregnant.
They are advertising the babies in the newspaper for when they are born. My main concern is whether or not all 5 guineas are in fact female, seems a bit odd that 1 is not pregnant and all the rest are.
Having not seen them, i am not worried about their welfare at the moment but i am worried that they have got into a bit of a pickle.
I am thinking about ringing then up and seeing if they need any help, and when any males should be removed etc. Is it worth asking if they would give any babies up to rescues? I know everywhere is pretty full with some of the recent rescues that have gone on.
Juat after a little advice
Thanks
kayleigh

i would ring them.

I work in a nursing home and i dread to think who would take charge of them and make sure they are looked after properly.

Cant do any harm to ask and advise.

I work in a nursing home too and I can't see who would look after animals. I don't imagine any of the carers would do it. We had a cat once for about 6 months and it needed an operation, the manager refused to take the money out of staff/resident fund and the poor thing had to be rehomed. Guess they get animals and don't actually think about all the care they need.

Forgot to add they also have chickens and a rabbit in their newly renovated gardens. In specially made coops and hutch. Hoping the rabbit isn't with the guinea pigs. x
