Hey everyone, I'm new to this and I'm not 100% sure how to work it. I was wondering if anyone on here has ever noticed a spot on their guinea pig that is on there nose just between their nostrils. It gets like hard skin over it then falls off. I went to the vet the first time I noticed it and I was pretty concerned, the vet said that it was normal and would fall off. Which it did but seems to come back every couple months. If anyone has any advise it would be much appreciated. Thank you

I don't have a photo right now but I think he is getting another spot on his nose again. As soon as I can get a good photo I'll put it up. Thank you for willing to help me.

She means, is your vet knowledgeable about guinea pigs? Most vets have good knowledge and experience of cats and dogs, because they are the most common pets, but their knowledge and experience of guinea pigs and how to treat their problems is limited.
This forum has a list of recommended vets in the UK who have good experience with guinea pigs - look for the 'Vet locator' in the top bar.

Thanks for such a comprehensive reply @Qualcast&Flymo couldn't have done it better myself!

@Megan18 I'd recommend trying a different vet next time it appears. It could be a fungal issue or maybe cheilitis. Both need medication which you can only get from the vet unfortunately.

Ah right thank you for clearing that one up for me. The vet I go to is a pets at home vet which is where I adopted my Guinea Pig so I'm guessing they know quite a bit about them

Here is a picture of my Guinea pigs nose, hopefully someone could help with what it could be. I will have an update on it again soon. Hopefully you can see 2 little lumps at his nostrils20180117_210140.webp
