Does anyone use a carpet sweeper for cleaning up all of those stray hay strands? Could they pick up something as big as hay? (All the write ups say good on pet hair).

Thanks :)p

I don't reckon they will personally. Hay is such a pain, we have bamboo flooring so it's pretty easy but still such a mess!

Can you buy youself a cheap bagless hoover to use only for the hay / guinea stuff?

I'm scared to use the hoover when they are there incase I shock them to death :( They've never been in the room with it on.

Really? Gosh my lot have to be used to it i'd be lost without the hoover.

My next hoover will definitely be bagless! I use it in and around their cage. The girls don't like it (but don't panick, just go away) Bo LOVES it and popcorns, silly boy!

Mine stay in the cage when I'm hoovering cages....and obviously stay in when I'm hoovering the floor. :)
I have a bagless, I used to have a bagged hoover but the bag was filled on a daily basis, it got too expensive!

When I have a new pig I break them in as gently as possible - talking a LOT in the run up to switching the hoover on, then talking a lot after it's switched off. Within a few days, they are used to the hoover, a few of them run around the hoover hose popcorning while I'm hoovering the poop out the cage!

Piggies do have very sensitive hearing, that it something that cross my mind and occasionally bug me, so I make the hoovering sessions as brief as possible.

Thanks everyone. I have seen people saying their piggles popcorn to the hoover - I wonder why?

The lounge is big, with a sofa seperating it in the middle, maybe I should try hoovering the end furthest away to see how they react?

We have a bagless hoover, its a Dyson but is really old so isn't that great anymore. I want a Hetty but they have bags.

i know it sounds harsh but as long as the guineas are away from the hoover...

just turn it on:)):)):))

ive never had a problem with guineas before and hoovers and even the rescue ones in the outhouse get used to me hoovering up..

they just run off at first and hide then after they get used to it they just stand there while i do it watching..

I think we all tip toe around animals thinking oh god what will happen:))

well they WILL get used to it regards if they have ever heard it before or not:)):(|)
