Hi all,

Now, I thought i was a good piggie mummy. I've been giving our two piggies a good selection of veg every day, plus hay and dried stuff....I've been giving them a carrot every day, as thought it was good for vit c. But I was just browsing through the GP shopping list and it says to be wary about giving them too much as the Vit A may cause kidney probs.

Is that true?!? I feel awful now. Does anyone else give their pigs carrot every day?

Thanks
Worried mum. :(

I'm worried about that too. :(

I've tried loads of different fruit and veggies with them but all they will eat is carrot, romaine lettuce, baby corn and corn on the cob. I thought that by having two piggies, one would eat different foods and encourage the other to try it, but they are both the same!

I give them one small carrot a day. Usually about 10cm in length. Thats between 2 piggies, is that ok do you think?

Yes I'm sure that small amount of carrot is fine. Mine have half a carrot each every day :)

A small amount is fine, baby carrots (Chantenay) are better but Tescos Value are OK too :)

Oh phew! Thats a relief, thanks guys!

Couldn't live with myself if i thought i'd put their health on the line through ignorance :(

Well I offer 2 carrots to 3 pigs per day, they nibble a little but don't eat even a quarter! They are celery and cucumber piggies, they won't eat anything else, but I keep trying! They are worse than babies! :)

Oh that is so so helpful thanks very much!

By the way of green lettuce do they mean Round lettuce? We don't have much choose in our tesco?
