Yep, mine too love carrot tops drool

You can put the whole thing in, but carrots shouldn't be fed too frequently because of the high sugar content, and the high vitamin A - I often buy bunched carrots, cut the tops off, and have the carrots myself! :))

Mine love them. We bought some carrots off the fruit and veg store in the market today just for the tops. We got chatting to the lady working in the shop and it turned out she has two very well fed boy piggies, so she gave us some more tops that she had chopped off :)

I've found chatting up the local fruit and veg man very beneficial for my little girlies, we get all sorts of freebees and reduced prices. I'm sure they would kiss him if they could!:)p

This is probably a very daft question - is the calcium content of the carrot tops the same as the carrot itself? I have a 'bladder sludge/stone pig' so I'm incredibly wary about his calcium intake. He eats varying types of lettuce, peppers, carrots, celery, cucumber and baby tomatoes. I've never bought the carrots with the tops on, but I wondered whether they might be a good alternative to lettuce on some days as I like to give at least one green/leafy veg each day. I know that carrots are quite low in calcium so I give a few slices twice a week, but I can't find any info on carrot tops. Would it be OK to give my boy some daily/every other day?
