Silly question I know but I have to ask as I'm so paranoid about poisoning the little tykes...

Is it okay to give guinea pigs the carrot tops (tall lush greenery bit)?

Thanx guys @)

Yes it's fine my girls love them drool
sometimes they can get a bit gritty i give them a bit of a good rinse, the extra water doesn't hurt :)

p.s. nothing is silly to ask love........... you're just being careful x

^ THANK YOU :)

I spend most of my time worrying I'm a rubbish owner!

Putt loves carrot tops they are her second favourite food after parsley.

I believe they are quite high in calcium though (not certain so if any one knows please post) so we only feed in moderation as too much calcium can be linked to bladder stones.

What do you refer to as "moderation"... a few times a week?

Thanx

my lot LOVE it...:))
they will always eat that bit before the actual carrot... :))
x

At first they weren't sure... but once they got the taste they loved them.

Now they smell the carrot tops coming - much excitement ensues! :)

Carrot tops are the favourite treat for all of mine - they can't get enough! & the long strands are fun for them to play with, I hang the strands from the sides of the cage & in the suspended hay rack to make it fun to find.
