Hi I just wanted to know what to do with poor little Digby after he has been done, I know he will need to be away from the other piggies for 4 weeks and then slowly introduced but I have no idea how to care for a just castrated piggy. Also should I keep him indoors for the first few days/nights to see how he is getting on then put him in his own hutch? What sort of bedding should I use will hay be ok or something softer?

I think you are supposed to keep him on towels after his op to help prevent infection.

All you need to do after a guinea has been castrated is to keep them in a clean, dry and comfortable environment. Towels and paper both make good bedding for a recently castrated guinea. Put hay in his enclosure for him to eat not as bedding as this will irritate the surgical wounds. I would keep him indoors for the first few days at least, if you could house him inside for longer that would be good. Watch out for signs of infection. :)

Check his bits often. Bed them down on towels change them every day. I did this for about 10 days also used a hay rack to prevent him walking on it.

Oh cheers guys I wouldnt have had a clue with out you O0! I have just found out we are only going to pay 25 for him thats castration included which is great news I thought it was going to be over 40 quid!

That's a really good price. Can't wait to see pictures of him. Are you keeping his name? :)

Yes I think Digby is a good name will get pics as soon as possible!
