Hi I just wanted to know what to do with poor little Digby after he has been done, I know he will need to be away from the other piggies for 4 weeks and then slowly introduced but I have no idea how to care for a just castrated piggy. Also should I keep him indoors for the first few days/nights to see how he is getting on then put him in his own hutch? What sort of bedding should I use will hay be ok or something softer?

I think you are supposed to keep him on towels after his op to help prevent infection.

All you need to do after a guinea has been castrated is to keep them in a clean, dry and comfortable environment. Towels and paper both make good bedding for a recently castrated guinea. Put hay in his enclosure for him to eat not as bedding as this will irritate the surgical wounds. I would keep him indoors for the first few days at least, if you could house him inside for longer that would be good. Watch out for signs of infection.

Check his bits often. Bed them down on towels change them every day. I did this for about 10 days also used a hay rack to prevent him walking on it.
