Just seen on another post that they'd enquired with the Cat and Rabbit Clinic about a conscious dental but were told they were no longer being offered. Just wondered if anyone had more info, as my (meagre) Googling skills haven't had much success? Did that proposed regulation or whatever it was go through in the end?

Thankfully we've not needed the service yet but it was always nice to know it was an option.

When I took Tigery for a checkup on 10th August, after I lost Squeaks, I asked Kim about this. She told me that they could no longer do them as the insurers would not cover it if something went wrong.

(My thought was, what has ever gone, or could ever go, wrong, and who is going to make an issue of it if it didn't work? But I guess Kim and Simon feel they can't take that risk.)

As far as I know the Cat and Rabbit are offering an assessment and a GA dental, then followed by conscious dentals if required after that for long term dental piggies
This would be an update on what I was told then, and definitely a positive development if true.

It’s such a shame piggies are having to have a GA dental first. People in ivory towers just don’t understand the knock on effect these is for guinea pigs and their owners 🙄

Really hoping you're right, @Bill & Ted!

I've known for a while that I won't subject any of mine to regular, repeated GA dentals (fingers crossed they're never needed) as it's such a lot to ask of such a small body, and I would absolutely hate having my hand forced by the lack of (skilled) conscious dentals.

@Qualcast&Flymo I would be happy to sign any waiver they threw at me if it meant the chance of keeping one of my guys alive and well for longer!
