Somehow a neighbours cat keeps getting into the Guinea pigs run. The first time I spotted it the girls were all grouped together out in the open just staring at it, imagine meerkats and a snake. By the time I had got out it was gone. The next time it was spotted in the run the girls were ignoring it and just eating the grass with the cat standing watching them. We saw how it got out this time, it jump at the wooden lid which raised enough to squeeze through before it closed again.

I don't trust it and still not sure how it keeps getting in so not sure how to stop it, but the girls don't seem to mind it which makes me think it's done this a few times.

Any ideas on how to stop it, or just ignore?

Wow, clever cat. I'd certainly not ignore it. Can you weigh down the lid or tie it down to the frame some how?

Is the lid solid or mesh with a frame?
I'm glad the piggies haven't been too bothered by it, I don't blame you for not trusting the cat though!

I agree with the others have you tried tying it down or putting a weight on the lid like a brick?

It's mesh with a frame. One of the issues is that the run is actually a few runs joined together as one of the girls was pregnant, unknowingly, when we got them so we went from two to six quickly.

I agree with the above - if it's a solid roof, weigh it down with a brick. If it is mesh, then put a fastener through it such as a carabiner or large crocodile clip, or the velcro fasteners which critter mentioned. I wouldn't trust the cat at all and even if he doesn't harm the piggies, it might stress them out. I have three different cats now coming into my garden so when Lily uses the run someone is always patrolling, even though it is secure. I also make sure that hideys are away from the sides to avoid a paw going through.

I don't blame your concern, I'd be freaking out! I don't even trust my own cat and she can't even get in!

Can you set up some sort of camera to see how it's happening?
