Hey furry friends,
I have recently been seeing a gray cat near our house every day. Sometimes she waits for me every time I come home! Last night she got into our backyard and started meowing. We thought it was probably because it was cold. Anyways, I'm worried now because the cat could get into our guinea pig room. Our guinea pigs are located right outside in our backyard. The room is connected to the outside of our backyard. There is a door to the outside too. Usually we open the door to let fresh air come in. (It's because Coco and Oreo are too stinky) We also put a magnetic net that can open and shut on the door. I'm scared that the cat will get in the room, (The cat already has. Luckily I saw and quickly got her out) and eat Coco and Oreo. She also seems to be permanently attached to me now.... What am I going to do?! She's so attached me..... I literally hear her meowing outside right now! I blame myself because I also have been spending too much time with her outside. I've also read that cats are usually afraid of guinea pigs at first.
Please Help!
Thanks! :oops::help::no:

I have never heard of a cat being scared of guinea pigs but I have heard of them attacking piggies. Basically you need to try and deter the cat and make sure your piggies are secure in the meantime which means not opening the door. I don't understand why your pigs are so stinky you need the door open, perhaps consider a different bedding if your current one isn't working well

We have a two year old rescue cat who is terrified of our two piggies! It took him a good four months to even be in the same room! Now he comes over and will sniff Sundae but is still wary of Spooky. If they are loose in the room, he leaves quickly as Spooky chases him. He is a lot braver when they are in their cages! 😂

We have cats that will try to sneek into our house in the summer. If I see them in the garden, at any time, they get chased off / get the hose put on them (sprinkle not jet). Was quite hard at first with one cat that I was very friendly with before I got the pigs, but I’m pretty sure the cat got over it! (He still got cuddles if he came to the front of the house)

I have three cats, all three of mine are actually pretty scared of the piggies because they are much larger than mice and small insects. Are your pigs in a hutch inside the room or do they have an open area?

My guinea pigs are in a small room. Their cage is on a table. I'm thinking about putting the top cover on the cage during the day.
