:'( Noticed that Fuzzi has a cataract in her left eye! She is only 15months! Read my bible "Guinea pigs" by Peter Gurney.Says that can nothing can be done and that she will be ok.But she is sooo young!
I know this is a little different, my aunties dog got cataract in both eyes and lived a normal life for years. Does peter say it could affect the piggy's quality of life? I'm pretty sure guinea pigs can live a healthy happy life with cataracts
Are you sure it is a cataract and not opaque?,the eye will go opaque if there is a small injury from hay poking the eye. This will clear by itself.
I have had piggies with cataracts in both eyes and it did not seem to bother them, they still found the food bowls o.k.! Gps do not have very good sight anyway so blindness is not too much of a problem for them.
I thought it was just the sunlight on her eye the other day,but today in the rabbit's hutch(its dark in there) i could see clearly that it was a cataract!Peter says just that they don't go blind, but limit their sight! But wonder if this could mean other health problems!
