Hi,

I have had my two sows , Maisy and Poppy , for coming up to two years now ( I got them before Easter 2014 ) .

I got them both separately.
When I got Poppy I think she had mites and passed them to Maisy. They have had one injection and a xeno spot on for mites in the past, and the pesky mites never went ( I kept seeing them on her every few months ) .

Anyway, a year ago I bought a rabbit wooden log cabin from pets at home for £16 !
On recent close inspection, I have noticed little holes in the roof with tiny black bugs coming out!

Should I demand a replacement form pets at home , would they give me a replacement ?

My piggies still have a fine coat however thier legs seem a bit bare of hair, is this normal ?
They don't scratch too much.

My parents paid a lot when Poppy had a hay poke recently, could I just buy a my little friends spot on from pets at home ?
I am asking as I have seen a review were a hamster had the spot on and died the day after so I am a tiny bit apprehensive about buying one.

Thanks of reading all of this and have a merry christmas and a happy new year.

Yeah take the house back and ask for a refund, in regards to the guinea's, if your in doubt about something health wise it's always best to get the vet checked :)

My Mum refused to buy those bendy logs from them and when she pointed out the condition of them to a member of staff they shrugged it off, same as the ones from the range that were split, their attitude is "they just chew them" which isn't always true, mine sit on them as well.

Hi!

What kind of parasites are you actually dealing with? Your description does not fit with what you are supposed to be dealing with. If not sure, please see your vets for a proper diagnosis and appropriate treatment and do not home treat on spec.

- mange mites/selnic mites are invisible to the naked eye; they cause intense scratching and hair loss typically in the triangle at the bum end.
- lice are pale runny or wiggly things
- fur or hay mites/static lice are near invisible to the naked eye, but you see brownish/darkish egg cases stuck to the hairs at the bum end

Each of these parasites needs different treatment. Please be aware that cheap shop products are too low dosed to properly treat any acute cases, so you won't get rid of them and prolong the suffering. :(

The bugs hatching in the log cabin could be woodworm they love soft wood, I don't think they could hurt your piggies but not what you want in the house. I would put it outside, hopefully it's cold enough where you are to kill off the bugs. I would definitely ask for a refund.
