I have a couple of the second ones and piggies sleep in them. Also one of my piggies isnt too keen on being handled yet so I pick her up in it and lie her on my lap so she still feels safe and cosy in it :(|)

i have two of the round beds which my two oldest sows sleep in
but they also wee and pooh in it so it has to be washed every couple
of days but they seem to like snuggling up together in it

we have these beds, and i make lots of other things, my piggies would be lost without these things, when i take them out to wash, they get so upset!

You need a crowbar to remove my lot from their Beds!

Sadly they have never learnt to share no matter how big I make the beds rolleyes although in fairness to Doodle this bed is a bit smaller than the ones we sell in the Hammocky shop.

If you go down the route of making your own Piggy Bed, it is best to stick to Polar Fleece, rather than using cotton. You might also want to carefully consider what you use as a batting/padding/stiffener because some Piggies will nibble and a lot of fillers are wholly unsuitable for Piggies to chew on!

Hello. I also make this sort of thing to sell, but from recycled fabric and reversible. The cotton layer normally goes on the inside for comfort. I mean the saks type of thing, although I call them homes. I do cuddle bags which are very soft and homes which have a stiffened opening. The cuddle bags are easier to make, but specifically for cuddling (and they're nice to use for that!) The homes with the stiffened openings are a bit harder to make.

The major difference with mine is the recycled fabrics. So there isn't a 'range' of fabrics to choose from there's just what I happen to have at the moment.

It's very interesting to see other people talking about their stuff too, very interesting to see the variety on offer. I like the folded back cuff effect on the fleece ones, and I think the 11" x 13" is fine on the size. I know cozy cavey on ebay sells smaller ones which often don't fit fully grown piggies in so if you're thinking of getting one be careful of the size.

If you want to see what I do then I have a link on my details. I must admit I am proudest of being able to make beds/homes for anyone and anything, including hedgehogs, baby parrots, sugar gliders etc etc! Not just piggies!

Last of all, I did give a method of making a simple padded bed on a different thread in the housing section - I think it was called DIY for piggies. I'm perfectly happen to send further instructions if anyone wants them, I've been making various stuff for my piggies for years and years!

I was wondering if anyone uses these or something similar? I am contemplating getting one.

or these Saks which is really what I am leaning toward seeing as they seem fairly simple to sew yourself!

Marsha, who runs Cozy Cavy in the USA, is a very reputable seller. I have a number of her cuddlecups here and they are still as good as new 2 years later. She's very involved in rescue and is highly respected. She's a good one to buy from. I'm sure some of the UK sellers here could ship to you but obviously postage costs could be a bit higher.

I just went to The Cozy Cavy site and they look good! I didn't mean to denigrate them at all! I just meant to be careful about the size - sorry if that came across all wrong. The 'cozy cavey' lady on ebay just doesn't give a size that's all.

Apologies again, Sarah

I didn't direct my reply to you Sarah, don't worry! Reading it again I can see how it can be "misread", so I am sorry about that. I'll stick the quote from the original poster in to make clear it was a reply to her, just letting her know that Cozy Cavy is a good one to buy from. :)

I know what you mean about sizes. My mum makes a load of cosies for my lot and she does most oversized. Since I have a number of oversized piggies... :))

I have some of those for my lot and they love them, when it is wash day the wait for me to put them back in the cage. I have to put them through the dryer.

Thank you for the website and the recommendation!

I have been looking for something like this. A few years ago, I bought the one and only basket in a pet shop which closed soon after, but it's been so heavily loved that it is going tatty!

And it would be nice, if I had one for each pig!

I would not attempt to make the Cuddle Cup at all! If I decided to get one I would definitely buy one from her since postage keeps going up and up and I tend to be a little more impatient when waiting on orders to arrive. And they are decently priced too! Thank you for your recommendations!

Now I can handle the pouches, and if not my grandma is just a phone call away :))

Thanks for all of the feedback!
