Try our piggy savvy locator on the top bar.

My closest cavy savvy vet is in Northampton, and I have to go by train... :mal:

We wish there were more good vets and we try to add as many as we can.

well - when we tried to save big Coo my wife traveled 2 hours to Huntington on train and 1 hour by taxi to visit Vedra as everyone else we tried was failed.Good it was 2010.Later we found real scientist.Matthew Fiddes from CJ hall.If it serious I strongly suggest him.

It can certainly be worth travelling to a good vet. I've just done 200 miles in 36hrs for my pig...50 miles there and back to drop her off yesterday, then the same to pick her up this morning!

My vet gets a lot of people travelling miles to see her as cavy savvy. I travel 6 miles but would go further a field if I had to. Can't put a price on a good vet :)

I'm spoilt, my vet's main surgery is 5 miles away, however, they have a satellite surgery 5 minutes walk from where I live that opens afternoons Mon-Fri. Perfect for none emergency stuff. ;)

Seers Croft in Horsham highly recommened by @Pebble if thats anywhere near you?

Indeedy - Rob Reynolds at Seers Croft is the man to see...excellent at piggie diagnostics and also GA's.
They have just appointed a new lady vet called Celine (I think) for exotics to replace Melissa but I haven't really met her yet!

It's a 40minute drive for me to reach the practice - but worth it - and they have a full night service with resident vets Hedley and Jeremy who are always happy to chat over your concerns and discuss medications late at night and determine if it is an emergency or can wait til morning. It also means your piggie gets continuity of care because all the records are there and easily accessible.

Finding a vet you trust with your piggies is often a case of trial, error and experience over time. It took several years (and unecessary losses) before I discovered Seers Croft and despite the distance, I have found it is actually more cost-effective and better for the pig to use a vet who is not afraid to prescribe off license medications and does actually want to find out what is wrong and how to put it right without just flinging baytril at you.

I do however also make the 5 hour round trip to Simon Maddock in Northampton for dental issues because he does exams without GA.....and in a real emergency when a piggie won;t be able to make a 40minute trip to Seers Croft; I go to Ben or Ruth at East Grinstead Vet hospital...which is 10mins away and also operates a sunday morning surgery.

Edit - see you are in Chichester - Grove Lodge at Worthing may be worth a punt? Laurel Bowker at the Portslade branch is advertised as being an exotics vet

Chichester! The very mention of the name sends cold shivers down my spine! I spent 7 months in Chichester in 1986 on basic training at the Royal Military Police Training Centre.

Civilisation was the last word I'd give the place, especially after some of the horrific beastings I received from the regimental PTIs! :lol!:

I have the shiniest boots in my station. ;)

Not in my house, the only swearing is when someone else attempts to do the ironing - it's my board and iron and everyone else can keep their mitts off. :D

No one is as good as me, that's not bragging, I was taught to iron during basic training, no one can do single razor sharp creases like I can. ;)

I'm not touting for business, I've got enough to do with the missus and junior's clothes. :raz:
