I have recently changed over to fleece and have started to notice some chalky deposits in Max's favourite spots. This is obviously coming from his urine. He looks well and is not showing any signs of discomfort when he pees or poos. He drinks plenty of fresh water. He loves foods that are known to be high in calcium - particularly readigrass and herbs. I have reduced the amont I give him but I don't think he'd ever forgive me if I cut these out completely. Any advice would be gratefully received.
 
Chalky wees are the normal way of excreting excess calcium; they are nothing to worry about as long as they dry to a nice dry powdery substance.
 
Thank you for the reply. I am so relieved to hear this.:) I wouldn't want to cut his readigrass out completely as he enjoys it so much and he has a lovely way of telling me it's time for some.

According to what I've gleaned from what wiekbe has told us and what is in the above sticky, powdery white stuff is normal but sludgy or gritty wee may indicate something to act on .

I will need to monitor Max's wee as what I saw had solidified and looked like a small smooth fragment of the chalk teachers used to write on blackboards with in the good old days.
 
Just seen this - noticed this sort of deposit on Fraggle's bedding.... glad to hear it is normal :)
