I've noticed quite a change in my two guinea pigs poops. They used to be brownish and quite dry but today I noticed they are much darker, smaller and softer than before. Is this anything to worry about? It does seem like it is both of them having these weird poos. I recently started giving them a different type of hay that I got from a friend whos guinea pig passed away so she wasn't going to use it. I'm not sure what type of hay it is but could the change in diet have changed their poos?

Thanks for the link. It isn't coming out in clumps and its a normal amount.Luckily I cleaned them out yesterday so it's easy to notice how much they have pooed today.

Well that is a good sign, clumps and wet would indicate gut issues. I would put it down to diet especially as it is both piggies, dehydration would mean them smaller and hard I think so that can be ruled out.

Just keep a close eye on them for a few days

Ok, thank you. Their poo doesn't seem to match any of the conditions mentioned on Guniea Links. I've given them some of their old hay as well as the new stuff to see if it makes any difference.

I would keep a close eye over the next few days.

I have noticed that in this hot weather my pigs' poos are a lot softer.
