Has anyone noticed a change in the science selective guinea pig food? I opened a new bag a couple of weeks ago, and my gang are hardly eating any of it. They don't get much anyway - but a couple of times I've counted the individual pellets into their food bowl and they're still there untouched in the morning.

There has been a change in herd dynamics as we lost Lilith due to kidney failure at about the same time as the new bag of feed went into circulation.

I've also been gradually upping the grass content of their diet over the month as it's been easy to go out and pick for the gang now everything is growing again here and I'm very lucky to have easy access to several safe to pick from areas.

So now I'm wondering if the recipe has changed, if I've got a 'duff' bag of feed that they won't eat, if now that spring has arrived they're just stuffing themselves full of grass and don't want their dried even though the nights are still pretty cool..... or whether the herd change has really, really shaken them?

They are all eating grass, hay and most of their vegetables - and I've been trying to remember to only feed three pigs worth of veg. rations rather than four.

No one has lost weight, so I'm not too worried - just wondering if anyone else has notice anything?

Is this the grain free version? I opened a new bag yesterday and thought it smelled a bit different, but the piggies hoovered it all up like usual... faster than usual probably because we almost ran out this week so pellets have been rationed a bit until my new bag was delivered!

Now that's got me thinking - I wonder if I've ordered the wrong bag by mistake. I must check when I get home! It might explain the reaction.

They've changed the packaging and I'm sure the recipe too.. I saw on their Facebook page someone was complaining about then changing the degu ingredients

Must be the recipee change then......

The question is do I revert back to Burgess, of do I hold out and see if they'll eventually deign to eat the new version of the science selectve?

Maybe look up the old packaging online and look at the ingredients and compare to the new bag. If you're happier with the new ingredients compared to Burgess and u don't have any unwell piggies that would be massively affected by eating less pellets for a little while then personally I'd hold off. I do have bladder sensitive pigs though so changing pellets is never an option for me and I'm a bit para about it incase it causes flares!
