Can I ask if it is usual with new boars for there to be a change in leadership. We’ve had them for four weeks. They are two and a half months old. There has been some intense rumble strutting from the one who is usually the under-piggy. Is this usual? Worried things will get more tense and the calm way they seemed to have settled will now turn to fall outs. Long question - sorry! Thank you son much for any advice/information.

I think what you are witnessing is the first teenage hormone spike when the testicles start descending. You have obviously got one of the earlier starters there. It should die down within a couple of days but there are lots more to come...

Here is more information on teenage:
- A Comprehensive Guide to Guinea Pig Boars (Contains a chapter on boar ages and their specific challenges as well as a chapter on boar dos and don'ts, which is especially crucial during the tricky teenage months)
- Boars: Teenage, Bullying, Fighting, Fall-outs And What Next?
