hi i have four long haired piggies inside,

well the only problem is they poo so much and wee and because they are long haired all the wood shavings get matted into there hair no matter how much i brush them, and i cant afford to clean them out everyday.
and i was just wondering if anybody can suggest any other bedding that i can use that would be easier to clean out and made ,y piggies more comfortable?

any advise really appreciated

I dont think the bedding makes that much difference tbh. I just trim my long haireds so that their hair is off the floor, especially round their bum :)

Hiya

My Honey is a coronet for all my piggies i use paper on the bottom and then piles of Hay on top i dont use the shavings. I can imagine they would make a right old mess of Honeys long locks.

Do you trim their bottom ends quite reqular?

I find this is the key to keeping Honey nice she is quite good now when she has a little trim, got the hang of it she now has a nice neat little choppy bob! ;D

yes i cut there fur regularly but doesnt seem to help.
i think if i put just paper and hay in they would probably eat all the hay and then start on the paper?
how often do you think i should clean them out? ::)

i tried merlin on paper and hay too and had to clean him out every 2 days

i had to give him a trim round the bum today as his hair had been left t grow by the pet shop and was trailing along the floor (and getting quite messy)

I ran out of aubiose once and I had to clean them out every day when on newspaper and hay, thank goodness it was only for less than a week ;D
The other option is vetbed and have hay in hayracks, I know they still get it everywhere but it wont be as messy?

I'm triaing medibed and hay at the minute. i usually use megazorb but ran out over xmas and had to use newspaper and hay. saw medibed and thought id give it a go so will see what happens. i put a layer of that then a layer of hay in their cages.

i dont like vetbed or fleece as i find it too much hasstle and had to realistically be cleaned every day. i found it too high maintainance having to remove the poops all the time
