changing food

hey i have had my boys for about 2 months and when i got them they were being fed mr johnsons supreme guinea pig mix. its ok but because i have three pigs its really hard to know what each one is eating as they selective feed and they arent really getting a balanced diet from it. when we got them i bought a bag of it (which is massive and i only nearly finished the bad i bought when we got them). I have been trying to change them over onto the burgess excel nuggets but they dont seem to like them. i think they find them to big and hard so i have been breaking them up into small peices. its wierd though cos they seem to have on and off days - some days they dont eat any - only their origional food and other days there are only a few left. is this normal? also i think only one of them actually likes it.... but its really hard to tell who eats it and who doesnt. i only have about a weeks worth of their old food left so do you think i should buy another massive bag and just leave them on it for ages or do you have any tips on how to get them to like the food? should i wait until they eat most of the new bag if it get it and then try a different brand? what is your opinion? how do you get your guinea pigs to like a new food? i have been changing over gradually and at first they seemed to like it but now I'm not sure.... thanks in advance! x

I started with the same food and tried to get them onto the nuggets - burgess as well as you and they wouldnt touch it, I tried a mix of other foods and they just kept chucking it out the bowl looking for peas rolleyes

I have admited defeat and have gone back to muesli food, currently on wagg which they eat most of the bowl up, will be going back to the mr johnsons one as they really liked it once the wagg is finished - would rather they eat something then not much of the nuggets.

Burgess Excell do a smaller nugget with black current and oregano flavour to them, which was a big hit with mine, as mine didnt like the other burgess nugget either, i think as you say its a bit big.
