My guinea pigs have always ate adsa nuggets but asda have recently changed them and they aren't really that keen on them. So I'm going to try them on new nuggets do you have to introduce the new nuggets gradually?

I'm going through the same thing right now as I am changing my guinea pig to a healthier option. The best thing to do is introduce them slowly as guinea pig's digestive systems are very sensitive. If you would like to, you could see if they eat the new pellets out of your hand. This tells you how fast to introduce the new food. Start by mixing a bit of the new food in with the old one. In the beginning I usually mix in 1 part new nuggets, 3 parts old nuggets At first they may not eat bits of the new food, but continue to do this until you see they start to eat some of it. Then you can start adding more and more until you are left with all new pellets. My pig is very picky, so it usually takes a week before she even touches the new food.

If you mix the new nuggets in with there current nuggets over the next few weeks, so its a gradual process it should be fine. Problem is if they dont like the food your currently giving them but love the new nuggets they might just stop eating the old nuggets. If you see this happening then just give them the old nuggets one day and then a mix the next day, just so its nice and gradual. I recently changed my guinea pigs over onto selective almost immediately with no ill effects, they were fine. However, of course every guinea pig is different so yeah slow introduction is best :)

Hello! :)
Someone told me to that you must introduce them over the period of one month, mixing a little new nuggets with old nuggets, then obviously replacing more of the old nuggets with the new. It may be a while before they take to your new nuggets as they're fussy little eaters XD

yes introduce them gradually. i'd give a very small amount and then wait a couple of days to make sure there are no issues, and then start the change over slowly over the next few weeks :)
