Hi guys! I am now 4 months in to my first time owning piggies who are also rescues and I have somewhat got into a routine with them...
This goes:

Getting up in the morning and spot cleaning their cage, removing and replacing soiled puppy pads, fresh pellets, hay and water

Afternoon they get a small amount of veggies between 1 and 2.

Night time I spot clean their cage again, top up their hay and give them another small amount of veggies.

However, due to a change in circumstances where I have a new job, I wont be there in the afternoons everyday to feed them veggies. It's 12.5 hr shifts 3 days a week. I do live with people but they are not always there to feed them in the afternoons anyway.

So my question is... Can I change their veggie routine to Morning and Night? Is it easy? And how can I make these changes? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Mine have veg before I leave for work (about 8.30 am), a few salad leaves when I get back (about 6pm) and the rest of their veg at about 10.30pm before I got to bed. Except on the day when I'm not home until 7.30pm, then their salad has to wait and at the weekend it's totally different as they are downstairs and running loose in the dining room. They get their veggies when we want to put them back in their pen, which depends on what we're doing that day.

They don't seem to mind the change or inconsistency ! They still try their luck every time the kitchen door is opened

Maybe for the first few day's they will think they are starving to death but they will adjust to the new routine. If they have plenty of hay they will have something to eat if they get hungry.

Won't do them the slightest bit of harm :-) spot clean, fresh water, hay and pellets top up before work and they will be more than fine until night when you get home. Hay makes up 80% of the diet, so even if they missed veg completely for a day it wouldn't harm them.. they may scream like they are fading away however!

I tend to do water bottles, pellets, change pee mats and complete daily hay change before bed as iv got enough to do in the morning with pigs medications, but that's just a general preference really!
